Generally, kuntilanak described as a beautiful woman with long hair and a long white shirt. In Malay folklore, kuntilanak figure depicted in the form of a beautiful woman with hollow backs. Kuntilanak described glad to terrorize the villagers to take revenge. Kuntilanak as appears always accompanied by fragrant frangipani. It is said that men who are not careful could be killed after kuntilanak transformed into blood-sucking. Kuntilanak said is often manifest as a beautiful woman walking alone deserted streets. Therefore, this story aims to avoid the possibility of being bothered by groups of women than young men fearing Kuntilanak when walking alone on a lonely road.
In the lurid stories and horror movies on television Malaysia, kuntilanak described killing prey by sucking the blood at the nape of the neck, like a vampire.
Somewhat different from the picture in the tradition of Malay, Sundanese kuntilanak traditionally do not have holes in the back. The kind that has a hole in the back as the description above is called Sundel Bolong. Kuntilanak reportedly also liked certain tree as a "sit", such as hibiscus that grows leaning sideways (popularly called "hibiscus inclined").
